Jake Arrieta wins ESPY for best breakthrough athlete

Although the Cubs did not secure home-field advantage for the World Series, as the National League fell in Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game 4-2, not all Cubs players will not leave the all-star break empty handed.

Jake Arrieta is bringing some hardware home with him after winning the ESPY award for the best breakthrough athlete of 2015.

Arrieta's numbers are quite impressive — the 2015 Cy Young award winner posted a 22-6 record to go along with a 1.77 earned-run average. His 2016 season has also been a success thus far, as Arrieta currently sports a 12-4 record with a 2.68 ERA.

The Cubs' ace is in good company, as some fairly impressive success stories were also among the nominations for best breakthrough athlete.
