With their future in Arizona seemingly secure, the Cubs are preparing to break ground on their Wrigleyville West complex and train another 50 years in the desert.

But you know that some players will really be looking forward to the trip to Las Vegas, a highlight of the 2011 spring-training schedule released Tuesday by the team. The Cubs will travel there for split-squad games on March 12-13 against the Reds and Dodgers.

Historically the Cubs have been the biggest draw in the Cactus League. They are positioned to remain that way after Mesa voters overwhelmingly approved last months ballot measure that allows the city to spend close to 100 million on a new facility for the team.

Reporting dates for players have not been determined yet, but a 35-game schedule begins and ends at HoHoKam ParkFeb. 27 against the As and March 30 for an intrasquad exhibition to benefit team charities.

The Cubs will play the White Sox twice in ArizonaMarch 11 in Glendale and March 24 in Mesa. Tickets go on sale next month and can be purchased through the teams website.

Major League Baseball has moved up the regular-season schedule for 2011. After completing their 33rd consecutive spring training in Mesa, the Cubs will open against the Pirates on April 1 at Wrigley Field.
