Road Ahead: How will Cubs fans react to the John Lackey experience?

CSN Chicago's Kelly Crull and Patrick Mooney look ahead to John Lackey's upcoming home debut against the Cincinnati Reds and much more in the latest Road Ahead, presented by Chicagoland & NW Indiana Honda Dealers.

Not even a season-ending injury to Kyle Schwarber can keep the Cubs down.

With expectations at an all-time high, the Cubs have stormed out of the gates to a National League-best 6-1 record through the first week of the 2016 season.

Riding a three-game winning streak and coming on the heels of a dramatic come-from-behind victory in their home opener on Monday night, the Cubs will turn to free agent acquisition John Lackey for Game 2 of a three-game set with the Cincinnati Reds.

"It will be fascinating to see how the Wrigley Field fans react to the John Lackey experience," Mooney said. "He is kind of exactly what the Cubs needed. A reliable guy who could throw 200 innings and bring kind of an edge every fifth day he pitches.

"As Theo [Epstein] said, he's someone who does not care at all what the media or fans think. But he does care about what the other 24 guys in the clubhouse think. He's someone who really is kind of within that sphere universally admired."

Check out what else Mooney and Crull had to say, including thoughts on the Cubs grind-it-out approach at the plate, in the video above.
