He has played in the National Championship game, was selected in the NBA Draft and appeared at the ESPY Awards.

On Tuesday night, former Wisconsin Badger hoops star Frank Kaminsky participated in another cool event when he threw out the first pitch at U.S. Cellular Field. The Lisle-native is a lifelong White Sox fan whose grand parents originally lived within several blocks of Comiskey Park. Back in town to run a basketball camp before he heads to Charlotte, N.C. to begin his NBA career, Kaminsky was excited to take batting practice and throw out the first pitch before the White Sox opened a two-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

“It feels like I’ve been everywhere,” Kaminsky said. “It’s just nice to be home and hang out with my friends and family. Just relax and get to be able to do things like this. I was on the go for so long right after the season ended. I was just happy to get a few weeks to myself.

“I like to complain about a lot of different things, but I haven’t had a lot to complain about recently.”

Both of Kaminsky’s parents and a large group of friends and family attended the game. Kaminsky said he attended a World Series game in 2005 but not the one he would have preferred --- “I was supposed to be at the game where Scott Podsednik hit the walk-off home run … but we won’t talk about that,” Kaminsky said. “I still blame my dad for that one.”

“We have a family saying: ‘We have two favorite teams in the MLB, the White Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs.’ That gives you an idea of how much we love this team.”
