The hot story in the NFL this offseason has been the bounty scandal surrounding the New Orleans Saints. That controversy has now extended to Chicago, namely White Sox GM Kenny Williams and his son, Kyle.
Documentary filmmaker Sean Pamphilon released audio of a speech Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams gave to his players last season prior to New Orleans' playoff matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, on which Kyle Williams is a wide receiver and returner for the Niners.
In the speech, Gregg Williams is recorded as saying his players need to put a "lick" on Kyle Williams to test if the young receiver is fully healthy from a concussion suffered earlier in the season.
Kenny Williams made a statement to the Chicago Tribune on the matter.
"Personally, suspension or not, it's probably best I'm never in a room with Gregg Williams and wonder if such an order crosses the line of the aggressive, competitive spirit we all know and love about the sport and leans closer to a criminal act and therefore litigious matter," the White Sox GM said.
He also said he will not be speaking on the matter publicly anymore and prefers to focus on the Sox and the upcoming season.
