Peavy headed to Kansas City for All-Star Game

Jake Peavy is the fourth member of the White Sox headed to Kansas City for the All-Star Game.

The right-hander was named late Sunday afternoon as a replacement for Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson, who will miss the game because of an undisclosed injury.

Peavy is 7-5 with a 2.85 ERA in 17 starts this season for the White Sox. He a team-high four complete games and has struck out 108 batters in 120 innings.

On Thursday, Peavy finished second in the Final Vote competition to Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish for the 34th and final spot on the American League All-Star roster.

This is the third time Peavy has been named to the All-Star team and first since 2007. Peavy wont join his teammates in Kansas City until Tuesday because of prior commitments. He is set to attend the funeral of Padres bullpen coach Darrel Akerfelds in Colorado on Monday.
