Report: Yoenis Cespedes sticks with Mets on three-year deal

There seemed to be a glimmer of hope Friday night when there were reports of a "mystery team" joining the New York Mets and Washington Nationals in the Yoenis Cespedes bidding.

But hours later the idea of a mystery team didn't even matter because Cespedes was returning to Queens.

According to reports, the Mets and the 30-year old outfielder agreed to a three-year deal worth $75 million.

For those keeping score at home, that's a higher AAV than the Cubs gave Jason Heyward this offseason.

The White Sox were one of a few teams still keeping an eye on Cespedes' market but it's not clear whether they ever made an offer. Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal did report that there were higher offers from other teams that Cespedes turned down.

Cespedes hit .287 with 17 home runs and 44 RBI with the Mets after being traded to New York at the trade deadline.
