MLB commissioner Bud Selig was in Chicago to present White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf an award during Friday's opening ceremonies at SoxFest, but he also took time to comment on the 2012 playoff structure.

Selig said baseball will add a one game wildcard playoff this season. During the State of the Game forum with fans at SoxFest, he said everyone involved in the decision making process -- including managers -- wanted it to be one game, rather than a three-game series.

While I agree with Yogi Berra that it aint over til its over, I really believe well have the wild card for 2012, this year, Selig said. Clubs really want it. I dont think Ive ever seen an issue that the clubs want more than to have the extra wild card, this year.

Were working on dates right now. That will all take place. It looks to me like well have it because Ive told everybody that we have it. Itll be exciting(a) one-game playoff and start the playoffs out on a very exciting manner.
