A few days ago, it was suggested that if Dayan Viciedo's Cactus League issues at the plate and in the field persist, he could begin 2012 in Triple-A. The idea wasn't unfounded, although it was unlikely to come to fruition.

That settles that. Viciedo went 0-2 to lower his spring OPS to .379, which isn't good, but the Sox won't ship Viciedo to the minors until he proves he can't hit regular-season major-league pitching over an extended period of time. If Viciedo's still hitting as bad as he is now in, say, June and his defense is a liability, then maybe the Sox would consider sending him down. But, right now, it's much too early for that to be a legitimate possibility.
