Despite a season that saw him continually tie strikeout records previously established by Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez, Sale didn’t finish above third place on any ballot. He received three third-place votes and seven fourth- and fifth-place votes, respectively.

Keuchel was first on 22 of 30 ballots and earned 186 points. David Price received eight first-place votes and finished with 143 points overall. Sonny Gray finished third with 82 points, appearing on 28 of 30 ballots.

Sale finished in third place in the 2014 vote, fifth in 2013 and sixth in 2012, his first season as a starting pitcher.
