The White Sox game-winning 10th inning began with Avisail Garcia drawing a leadoff walk but being taken out of the game with what was deemed as right knee inflammation.

Manager Robin Ventura said Garcia initially tweaked his knee over the weekend in Oakland — it didn’t stop him from ripping a two-run homer in the ninth inning Sunday — and aggravated it in working that walk against Indians reliever Zach McAllister. Ventura and trainer Herm Schneider went out to check on the 24-year-old and determined it was prudent to remove him from the game, which the White Sox won 2-1 on Carlos Sanchez’s walk-off single.

Garcia has carried the White Sox offense over its six-game winning streak, picking up 11 hits in 25 at-bats with a walk and two home runs.

“Even talking to him tonight it’s more inflammation,” Ventura said. “He felt something in his knee and we’re just being really cautious with him to make sure. He felt he could probably stay in there but we had a guy that could run so you put (J.B.) Shuck in there and figure it out tomorrow.”
