The 25-year-old Beck started one game in the major last year, coming in a doubleheader against the Orioles. He threw six innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on 10 hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

Beck underwent an elbow procedure last summer (not Tommy John surgery) that cut his season short, but he returned to action this spring. In 10 starts with Triple-A Charlotte last year, he posted a 3.31 ERA in 54 1/3 innings.
