White Sox morning roundup

From yesterday:

The Sox struck out 16 times in their 5-3 loss to Baltimore, sealing a series defeat at the hands of the Orioles. Gavin Floyd scuffled through six innings, allowing five runs with three walks, seven strikeouts and one home run allowed. All in all, the Sox squandered any momentum they had coming out of the Detroit series in the last few days as they head west to Seattle and Oakland.

The game itself wasn't too exciting, but seeing a four-year-old rush the field and be scooped up by Dayan Viciedo was pretty fun:

Gordon Beckham sat out Thursday's game in favor of Eduardo Escobar -- who went 0-4 with a strikeout -- and before the contest hitting coach Jeff Manto explained what the second baseman is doing with his swing lately.

Another player who got Thursday off was A.J. Pierzynski, who joins Jake Peavy in the department of "extremely encouraging starts." James also offered up some thoughts on the Jakemeister's fantastic beginning to the 2012 season.

Around the division: Curtis Granderson pummeled the Twins, Yu Darvish shut down the Tigers, Cleveland snuck by Seattle and the shift to DH hasn't negatively affected Billy Butler.
