Gavin Floyd bounced back with 6 13 scoreless innings and the White Sox offense woke up in a 7-0 win over the Cubs. Of note, Eduardo Escobar had a good game, but Robin Ventura said Orlando Hudson will be back at third base for Friday's series opener against Milwaukee.
But the story of the day was Floyd, who entered the game with an ERA over 10 in his previous six starts. Here's what catcher A.J. Pierzynski had to say about the Sox starter:
If Floyd can repeat his success of Wednesday going forward, the Sox may not need help in their starting rotation, at least when John Danks returns. But if Philip Humber can't get things going, perhaps Simon Castro would be an option.

On Chicago Tribune Live, Frank Thomas discussed his relationship with Robin Ventura:
Around the division: Justin Masterson stymied the Reds as Cleveland won 8-1, Detroit couldn't solve Jake Westbrook and St. Louis, Jose Valverde will miss 3-4 days with a wrist injury, Bruce Chen bested Jordan Lyles in a pitcher's duel in Houston and Francisco Liriano continued to turn his season around in a 2-1 Minnesota win over Pittsburgh.
In this episode of the SportsTalk Live Podcast, Danny Parkins (670 The Score), Chris Bleck (ESPN 1000) and Scott King (WGN Radio) join David Kaplan on the panel.
