The White Sox couldn't solve Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow, who threw his MLB-leading third shutout of the season to push Toronto to a 4-0 win. The Sox managed just two hits and two walks against Morrow.
Paul Konerko missed his third straight game and hopes to return soon, he explained prior to the contest:

In other injury news, it sounds like Kosuke Fukudome may be bound for the disabled list. Whether the Sox removing Ozzie Martinez from their 40-man roster is connected to that remains to be seen -- since the move put the 40-man at 37 -- but the Sox will need to add an outfielder to the 40-man roster if Fukudome hits the shelf.
Jose Quintana made the most of his third crack at starting in the majors, allowing two runs over six innings. He allowed nine hits -- one of which was a home run -- with only one walk and one strikeout. Quintana doesn't have great stuff, but he kept the ball on the ground, which keyed his success. If this was his last start in the majors until further notice, he did a fine job.

Around the division: Detroit placed Alex Avila on the 15-day disabled list and lost 9-6 to Cleveland -- but stayed a half-game ahead of Kansas City as the Royals fell to Minnesota 4-2.
