The Cubs designated pitcher Randy Wells for assignment on Wednesday and recalled right-handed reliever Rafael Dolis from Triple-A Iowa.
In Tuesday's matchup against the Mets, Wells lasted only 3 innings, allowing six hits and three runs. Despite his struggle, the Cubs went on to win their second consecutive game, 5-3.
Dolis last pitched for the Cubs on May 26, allowing one hit and one run in the nine pitches he delivered. He was optioned to Triple-A back on May 28 to make room for Carlos Marmol to return to the bullpen.
