The Brewers made a major splash in an otherwise quiet MLB offseason on Thursday, dealing four prospects to the Miami Marlins for outfielder Christian Yelich.

Yelich, who wanted out of Miami after the franchise dealt superstar Giancarlo Stanton (Yankees) and Marcell Ozuna (Cardinals), hit .282 last season with 18 homers and 81 RBIs for the Marlins. He also led all center fielders in fielding percentage.

The 26-year-old won a Gold Glove in 2014 and a Silver Slugger in 2016, when he hit 21 homers , drove in 98 and finished with an .859 OPS. Yelich was appealing in that he still has four years remaining on the seven-year deal he signed in 2015.

The return to Miami was significant. The main part of the deal was outfielder Lewis Brinson, the team's top prospect ranked No. 13 overall by MLB.com. Isan Diaz (ranked No. 86 by MLB.com). Monte Harrison, ranked No. 14 in the Brewers' system, and right-hander Jordan Yamamoto also went to the Marlins in the deal.
