Cubs' David Ross: Anthony Rizzo sitting in bleachers was like ‘Where's Waldo?'

Forget “Where’s Waldo?” “Where’s Rizzo?” was all the rage at Wrigley Field on Thursday night.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who has been limited in Summer Camp this week due to lower back tightness, spent Thursday’s intrasquad game tracking pitches in the bullpen. Manager David Ross said late in the game, bench coach Andy Green asked him if he saw what Rizzo was up to.

Ross thought his first baseman was still in the bullpen, only to see him stationed in the bleachers watching the game. He even moved around to take in the action from different sections.

“It's like “Where's Waldo?” He's ‘Where's Rizzo?’ He's in a different spot in the outfield every time,” Ross said. “It was pretty funny.”

Ross was a fan of Rizzo's idea and noted how post-retirement he's watched the Cubs play from a box and the bleachers while broadcasting a game on ESPN.

"That’s kind of a really good idea," Ross said of Rizzo. "It's just a cool perspective, cool, different way to see the park. He was talking about how you can see the skyline from left field in a couple seats and how beautiful it was."

With no fans at games this year, maybe more players will follow Rizzo's lead and find the best seats in their club's ballparks to watch a game.
