Darvish defeats Peavy for final All-Star spot

Despite heaps of support from fans, and even players, using the TakeJake hashtag on Twitter, Jake Peavy will not participate in this year's All-Star Game after losing the Final Vote to Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish, Major League Baseball announced today.

Peavy is 6-5 with a 2.96 ERA this year, while the rookie Darvish is 10-5 with a 3.59 ERA.
Peavy finished second in the voting, in front of fellow American League finalists Jonathan Broxton (KC), Jason Hammel (BAL) and Ernesto Frieri (LAA).
Peavy did, however, pick up a win of sorts over Darvish as the White Sox finished off a three-game sweep of the Rangers today at U.S. Cellular Field. Neither Peavy nor Darvish pitched in the series.
