Hanie on backing up Manning: ‘It's stressful'

Caleb Hanie couldn't keep the Bears in the NFC playoff picture after Jay Cutler's season-ending thumb injury last season, but that didn't stop the Denver Broncos from rolling the dice on him.

Now, Hanie is one serious injury to Peyton Manning away from taking over under center once again.

"It's something I think about," Hanie told The Denver Post. "It can be stressful. You don't get a lot of reps. The timing with the (No.) 1 receivers is not going to be there like it is with Peyton. And then you're asked to go in there and win the game."

In six games last season, Hanie completed 51 of 102 passes for 613 yards with three touchdowns and nine interceptions and finished with a QB rating of 41.8. But the stress and the potential pressure is no problem for the fourth-year veteran.

"That's the nature of the position. On the flip side, if we don't get to play, you still make good coin and you get a lot of experience. I'm not complaining."
