The first feature of CSN Chicago's month long celebration of Black History Month is the story of the 1991 Chicago State women's tennis team.
The Cougars went 1-12 in 1989, but had a sharp turnaround in 1990 with a 17-4 record. The improvement continued in 1991 with an undefeated 20-0 record.
Last week they were recognized on the Chicago State campus to celebrate the anniversary of the team's special season.
"Chicago State needed something positive to express and that's what we were," coach Lonnie Wooden said.
