BOSTON -- Notre Dame senior cornerback KeiVarae Russell suffered a stress fracture in his right leg during the fourth quarter of Saturday's 19-16 win over Boston College at Fenway Park.

It appeared Russell was unable to put weight on his right leg as he was helped off the field. Coach Brian Kelly was unsure of a recovery timetable for Russell.

He forced a fumble in the act of suffering his injury, dislodging the ball from Boston College freshman receiver Chase Pankey, though it was recovered by the Eagles.

Russell has another year of eligibility remaining but, based on interview sessions and social media posts, has always appeared intent on entering the NFL Draft following his senior season. He made two tackles, one for a loss, against Boston College.

In addition to Russell's injury, redshirt junior running back CJ Prosise suffered a high ankle sprain in the second quarter and did not return. Prosise was playing his first game since leaving Nov. 7's win at Pittsburgh in the first half with a concussion, which kept him sidelined for Notre Dame's Nov. 14 win over Wake Forest. He still finished the night as Notre Dame's leading rusher, gaining 54 yards on nine carries. Freshman Josh Adams was bottled up by Boston College's strong run defense, which limited him to 39 yards on 13 carries.
