Notre Dame RB CJ Prosise declares for NFL Draft

Notre Dame redshirt junior running back C.J. Prosise will forgo his final year of eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft.

Prosise made the announcement on his Instagram account Saturday afternoon. He rushed for 1,032 years in his first season after moving to running back this spring despite missing time due to a concussion and sprained ankle sustained in November.

Prosise exploded for a huge season after two middling years as a slot receiver. He came to Notre Dame as a safety, and his speed and pass-catching abilities make him an intriguing NFL target.

Prosise said before the Fiesta Bowl he got the grade he expected from the NFL Draft Advisory Board, but declined to share what it was. He dropped a pass in the Fiesta Bowl and didn't play after that, with freshman Josh Adams shouldering the majority of Notre Dame's carries.

Notre Dame's backfield still looks strong for 2016, with Adams -- who set a program record for most rushing yards by a freshman -- and senior-to-be Tarean Folston likely taking most of the carries. Folston tore his ACL in the first quarter of Notre Dame's season opener against Texas and missed the entire 2015 season.
