Notre Dame is still No. 4, and got some good news on a future opponent in the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night.

Stanford, which lost to No. 23 Oregon over the weekend, fell from No. 7 to No. 11. The Cardinal debuted at No. 11 in the first College Football Playoff rankings this year, and play Cal in Palo Alto this weekend before welcoming Notre Dame to the Bay Area Nov. 28.

USC entered the rankings at No. 24. Notre Dame beat the Trojans, 41-31, in South Bend, Oct. 17, though by virtue of Utah's loss to Arizona, USC controls its Pac-12 destiny and, with wins over Oregon and UCLA, would play Stanford (if the Cardinal beat Cal this weekend) in the Pac-12 Championship.

Navy moved up from No. 20 to No. 16, while Temple -- which lost to USF over the weekend -- dropped out of the top 25.

Undefeated teams Iowa and Oklahoma State remained at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, in the rankings. Oklahoma, which beat No. 10 Baylor in Waco over the weekend, moved up to No. 7, while No. 8 Florida and No. 9 Michigan State rounded out the top 10.
