Notre Dame junior running back Greg Bryant will play for ASA College Miami this fall, per a tweet from an assistant coach at the Florida-based junior college.

BlueAndGold.com’s Andrew Ivins reported that Bryant, a native of Delray Beach, Fla., enrolled at ASA Miami on Wednesday. Bryant is not eligible to play for Notre Dame’s football team this fall, though he was allowed to remain enrolled in the university.

Bryant’s father told Irish Illustrated’s Pete Sampson earlier this month his son’s ineligibility is due to receiving a B- in a summer school course he needed a B+ in to be able to play this fall.

Bryant was Notre Dame’s second-leading rusher in 2014 after gaining 289 yards and scoring three touchdowns. The former five-star member of Notre Dame’s 2013 recruiting class will reunite with ASA Miami coach Ernest Jones, who was Notre Dame’s director of player development from 2012-2014. Jones took a job on former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Bob Diaco’s staff at UConn last year but quickly resigned after saying “Jesus Christ should be in the center of our huddle.”

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said earlier this month he’d welcome Bryant back to the program in 2016. Bryant could transfer back to Notre Dame from his junior college, as former Irish quarterback Nate Montana did a few years ago.
