Tonight on CSN: Miles Boykin's Journey to Notre Dame

CSN brings you a 30-minute special on the life of Notre Dame freshman WR Miles Boykin. Tune in to CSN at 7 p.m. for the debut of 'Play Like a Champion: Miles Boykin's Journey to Notre Dame', presented by U.S. Marines.

Before each of his games, Miles Boykin takes a nap and eats a hot dog.

The tradition began long before the wide receiver became an All-American posting historic numbers for Providence Catholic, so with 48 minutes left in his high-school career he wasn't about to change his routine.

The nap was easy to take, sitting as usual next to his quarterback Justin Hunniford on the Coach bus making the 113-mile, 2-hour trip from New Lenox to Champaign. He and teammate Connor Creed got their hot dogs in time, too, leaving Boykin to focus on the biggest game of his life.

The 6A state title game went late as expected, leaving both 7A teams - Providence and the undefeated Cary-Grove Trojans - to split the Illinois football practice facility while they waited. That's when it him him.

"I just hit another gear. My mind was somewhere else. I was so zoned in," Boykin remembers. "Stepped out on the field and I remember them calling my name for All-State and then the fans went crazy. After that, everything was history. I can't even remember stories from the actual game. It's a different feeling playing in a game like that."

That game - a 31-28 victory for Boykin and the Celtics - was one in a handful of memorable moments the talented Notre Dame freshman wide receiver has experienced on the football field.
