From the other bench: ‘Yotes look to clinch

In their 15 years of existence, the Coyotes have yet to win a playoff series. Leading the series 3-2 the Coyotes are hopeful that they can get that elusive playoff series win; while the Blackhawks are looking to extend their season with a victory on home-ice behind an invigorated United Center crowd.

Shane Doan, the only Coyote who made the move from Winnipeg to Phoenix, knows that closing out a series is never an easy feat to accomplish.

I know better than anyone its the hardest to win, Doan said in reference to the series-clinching fourth win in a conversation with NHL.coms Jerry Brown. Because Ive never done it.

When asked if there was cause for concern that the Coyotes failed to clinch at home, Doan expressed confidence while also complimenting the Blackhawks.

You want to find ways to win at home for your fans, but they played incredibly and we didnt play as well as we needed to, said Doan. But were pretty comfortable playing on the road and we did just beat them twice in their building.

With Andrew Shaw returning to the line-up tonight, look for the Blackhawks to antagonize goalie Mike Smith early and often. Speaking with the media today, Shaw told Blackhawks Insider Tracey Meyers that he will provide gritty play that was greatly missed during his three-game suspension.
