The San Jose Earthquakeshave signed veteran goalkeeper Jon Busch, according to CenterLineSoccer.com. Busch was released by the Chicago Fire on March 22, a little over a week before the season began, and it came as a surprise to all of his teammates as I wrote about last week.

But heres the twist ...

The Fire have their home opener on April 10 at Toyota Park, and guess which team they host? Yes, thats right, the Earthquakes. It will be a battle of the old vs. the new as Busch and the Quakes take on Andrew Dykstra and the Fire.

I wish Buschy the best because hes a good guy and a good professional," C.J. Brown, the veteran and only original Fire player still standing, said Tuesday after practice. "It hurts to lose him and he deserves to be on a team. I wish Buschy luck, but not necessarily the team very much luck. I hope he does well.

Dykstra, will be making an appearance on Chicago Tribune Live on Wednesday only on Comcast SportsNet. Make sure to tune in!
