Share

CSNChicago.com is your top destination on the road to the 2015 high school football season. CSN preps contributor “Edgy” Tim O’Halloran will take a look at 100 teams in 100 days, counting down to the opening night kickoff on Aug. 28.

School: Sycamore

Head coach: Joe Ryan

Assistant Coaches: Randy Zeitler, Curt Countryman, Jake Countryman, Brian Koehne, Rob Stover, Ryan Lyle, Brian Hutsler, Alex Nelson, Daryl Graves, Andy Jordan

How they fared in 2014: 7-5 (1-3 Northern Illinois Big 12 East Conference); The Spartans made the 5A playoff field, beat St. Viator then lost to Geneseo in second round action.

Biggest storyline in 2015: Can the Spartans make a deep run in 5A now that its playoff path has changed compliments of the IHSA Success Factor?

Names to Watch:

Senior linebacker Nick Niemann, an impact player, is verbally committed to Iowa.

Senior defensive tackle Vince Patallio will lead a veteran Spartans defense in 2015.

Biggest holes to fill: The Spartans have a ton of starters back (10 offense 6 defense), but do they have enough depth?

EDGY's Early Take: Whenever head coach Ryan brings back experience beware. The Spartans potential playoff path also will see nemesis Montini Catholic moved up to 6A this fall compliments of the IHSA's Success Factor rule.
