Northern Illinois and head coach Rod Carey added yet another name to their in-state 2018 class this eventing.

Decatur MacArthur junior athlete Amir Brummett (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) decided to end his recruiting process tonight and has pledged to the Huskies.

"NIU just feels like home to me," Brummett said. "I've been talking it over with my family and my coaches and I just felt like it was time to make my decision. I called up the coaches tonight at NIU and gave them my commitment."

Brummett, a three-sport athlete who was offered a scholarship by NIU as a wide receiver, discussed why he decided to end his recruiting process early.

"NIU just felt like the right place for me and it also felt like the right time to commit. I didn't want to wait and miss out on a great opportunity. I was honestly ready to make a decision," he said. "Recruiting made really really focus on what is important to me and I didn't want to pass up a great opportunity at NIU."

Brummett now joins Andrew defensive end Mike DeHaan, Plainfield East defensive end Jack Sullivan, Phillips defensive tackle Queneil Morrison and Maine South running back Fotis Kokosioulis as part of the NIU 2018 class.
