Parker named to Nike Hoop Summit team

Jabari Parker was one of 10 players selected to the USA roster for the Nike Hoop Summit, which will take place on Apr. 20 in Portland.
The one-day event features the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team -- ten of the top high school seniors from the U.S. -- playing against the World Select Team, made up of the top players 19-years-old or younger from around the world.
Parker, whose time in the FIBA Championships was cut short this summer after he suffered an injured foot, is the lone Illinois player on the list but will have plenty of talent surrounding him.
The team will be coached by Mike Jones, currently the head coach at DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, and Cory Alexander of Boo Williams AAU (in Virginia) will act as the team's assistant coach.
The World Select Team will be chosen in late March or early February, and is expected to have the consensus 2013 No. 1 overall prospect Andrew Wiggins, a Canada native, on it.
The other player Parker was also bumped down on most 2013 boards, forward Julius Randle, also will star on the USA Team. Other notables include Aaron and Andrew Harrison, who are both bound for Kentucky next season, and Indiana-bound Noah Vonleh.
Notre Dame-bound Demetrius Jackson, who was also considering Illinois, also made the roster.
