Preps Basketball Power Rankings: No. 22 Lake Zurich

Share

School: Lake Zurich

2016-17 record: 19-12, 5-9 North Suburban

Postseason results: Lost to Grant in Class 4A regional finals.

Players to watch: Ryan Kutsor is one of the area's underappreciated talents as the well-rounded senior led the Pekin Holiday Tournament in overall scoring last year. Kutsor has some help in hard-working senior Peter DiCerbo, a major contributor on both ends last season. The Bears also added a talented transfer in former St. Viator point guard J.R. Cison, one of the area's best passers.

Why they're in the power rankings: Head coach Billy Pitcher has quietly developed a very strong program at Lake Zurich over the past few seasons as the Bears consistently rate among the area's most fundamentally-sound teams. With known senior talent and the addition of Cison, a point guard who has proven he can run an offense, the ceiling is high for Lake Zurich . This team might be smaller than some but they have a lot of potential weapons.

Did you know? Lake Zurich has won at least 19 games the past four seasons.
