Batavia three star-ranked outside linebacker Michael Jansey Jr. (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) landed his dream offer from Northwestern at the end of the spring evaluation period. He recently ended his recruiting process and gave the Wildcats his verbal commitment.

"Northwestern was my dream school and once they offered me it was just too hard to say no to them," Jansey Jr. said. "I'm just very happy and excited to commit to Northwestern."

Jansey Jr. who also had Iowa State, Missouri and West Virginia in his early spring top schools list is now the 13th known verbal commitment in the Wildcats’ Class of 2019. Jansey Jr. is also the third known in-state commitment, joining New Trier DL Duke Olges and Bolingbrook defensive back Cameron Mitchell.

Simeon senior two star-ranked athlete Alante Brown (5-foot-10, 170 pounds) was asked to back out of his verbal commitment from Miami of Ohio and has quickly added several new looks this summer.

"Miami (of Ohio) didn't want me to go to any camps this summer," Brown said. "I really wanted to go to the North Central College satellite camp so I ended up going last Thursday night and the Miami coaches found out. So I basically was told to decommit but that I'm always welcomed to come back to Miami of Ohio. I really have no hard feeling at all towards the Miami coaches and I want to see how my summer camps go."

Brown also added a new offer from Missouri.

"Missouri was one of the schools at the North Central College camp that I really wanted them to see me in person. Missouri offered me after the NCC camp last Thursday and it wasn't really a surprise since they said that they really wanted to see me in person. Missouri offered me as a wide receiver. Missouri plays in the SEC and it's also a great school. I've always dreamed of playing at the highest level possible in college and SEC football doesn't get any better."

Brown also has drawn the attention of Minnesota, particularly of head coach PJ Fleck.

"Minnesota was at the North Central College camp on Monday and I was able to get to work with all of the Minnesota coaches including Coach (PJ) Fleck. Coach Fleck was working with me one on one for a bit and he was really great to work with. Minnesota said that they are going to wait until all of it's camps are done before extending any offers at receiver. I hope that Minnesota decides to offer me and I really like Coach Fleck and the rest of the coaches at Minnesota."

Western Michigan has been raiding the Land of Lincoln once again as coach Tim Lester’s Broncos picked up a recent verbal commitment from Cary-Grove senior offensive center Addison West (6-foot-3, 285 pounds).

"I really like the coaching staff at Western Michigan," West said. "They are good coaches who also have strong personalities. I made a visit to Western Michigan back in the late winter and that visit went well and it allowed me to learn a lot more about the school and the football program. WMU just felt like home to me."

West is the sixth known pledge from Illinois in the Western Michigan Class of 2019, joining Hillcrest wide receiver Corey Crooms, Al Raby wide receiver Marshon Foster, Rich Central running back Sean Tyler, Mount Carmel running back Kyle Davis and Naperville Central quarterback Payton Thorne.

Lincoln-Way East four star-ranked junior running back AJ Henning (5-foot-10, 170 pounds) already is holding 25 scholarship offers this summer. Henning is also planning to get out and make some on campus visits this summer.

"I'm going to visit Ohio State this weekend," according to Henning. "I'm also planning to visit Northwestern on June 21st and then I'm heading back to Notre Dame on June 22nd. It will be my first visit to Ohio State this weekend. When I visit a school for the first time I'm looking for a school that has offered a strong mix of academics and athletics. My family and I are very focused on both the academics and football side. I'm also focused on finding a school that I feel comfortable with and includes a great culture and tradition."

Henning is also in no hurry to make a college decision.

"No, I'm not in any hurry at all. I just want to get out and see more schools and see how my season goes. I'm sure I'll get out to see more schools and some college games this fall. Outside of that I don't have any plans to make a decision anytime soon."
