Simeon's Talen Horton-Tucker preparing for important senior season

Simeon senior Talen Horton-Tucker is already regarded as one of the state's most versatile players. Now the 6-foot-5 wing is hoping to become a high-profile national recruit during a busy spring and summer on the grassroots circuit.

After a strong junior season at Simeon in which he helped the Wolverines to a runner-up finish in Class 4A, Horton-Tucker will be asked to do even more this season now that point guard Evan Gilyard has moved on to college. Horton-Tucker is hoping that his versatility will pay off in the national recruiting landscape as he's currently weighing scholarship offers from multiple high-major programs.

This July will be particularly important for Horton-Tucker's recruitment when he plays in front of the college coaches during the July live evaluation period.

A strong candidate for first-team All-Area in the preseason, Horton-Tucker can guard multiple spots on the defensive end while also being able to play on or off the ball on the offensive end. That ability to play any position enables Simeon and head coach Robert Smith to play Horton-Tucker with a number of unique lineups next season.

If Horton-Tucker can consistently knock down perimeter jumpers then he has a strong chance to finish in the Player of the Year discussion as he'll be one of Simeon's best players this upcoming season.
