BUCHAREST, Romania (AP)Steaua Bucharest defender George Galamaz has been released from a hospital after sustaining a broken right cheekbone when a fan punched him during a Romanian league game.

The Military Hospital in Bucharest released Galamaz late Monday after 15 hours of treatment and tests. Steaua says the player will be sidelined for 45 days.

The Petrolul Ploiesti fan who ran onto the pitch and punched Galamaz, identified as 26-year-old Dragos Petrut Enache, was formally arrested late Monday on charges of committing a violent act and disturbing public order. He was ordered jailed for 29 days pending trial.

After Galamaz was hit, teammates knocked the fan to the ground and began beating and kicking him before he was whisked away by security staff. Two players received red cards for their conduct.

The match between Petrolul and visiting Steaua was later abandoned in the first half after home fans threw flares onto the pitch. Steaua was leading 2-0.
