Stewart needs wrist surgery, could miss rest of the season

Ian Stewart hasn't played since June 12, and there's a chance the Cubs third baseman will now miss the rest of the season. MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reported earlier today that Stewart will need wrist surgery and will miss the next 6-10 weeks.
That timetable would put his return sometime in August, but it may not be worth rushing the 27-year-old back with little to play for late in the season. Stewart was hitting .201 with 5 home runs and 17 RBI's through 55 games.
Luis Valbuena has filled in for Stewart, hitting .226 with 3 home runs and 10 RBI's in 16 games.
The Cubs open a four-game series in Atlanta tonight against the Braves.
