Chicago, IL (April 16, 2018) – NBC Sports Chicago, the multi-platform home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, continues to delve into the lives of some of the biggest names in Chicago sports with its candid, monthly, one-on-one interview series Inside Look presented by Cadillac

Debuting TONIGHT (Mon, Apr. 16) at 8:00 PM CT (prior to White Sox Pregame Live), NBC Sports Chicago’s Chuck Garfien hosts an exclusive one-on-one interview with 2005 White Sox World Series champion manager/current analyst on NBC Sports Chicago’s Baseball Night in Chicago OZZIE GUILLEN.  NOTES: Live stream of this program will also be available at CSNChicago.com/WatchLive or via the NBC Sports app to authenticated NBC Sports Chicago subscribers…NBC Sports Chicago will debut Part II of the Guillen/Inside Look interview on Monday, May 14 at 7:00 PM.

A southside fan favorite for over three decades, the Venezuelan-born Guillen burst onto the Chicago baseball scene in 1985 by showcasing his flamboyant defensive skills at shortstop, along with providing number of clutch at bats throughout the year earning him AL “Rookie of the Year” honors. Guillen spent 13 seasons in the White Sox uniform, which followed with stops in Baltimore, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay. He finished his playing career with over 1700 hits and 619 RBI, solidifying his place among with best shortstops of his era. With baseball in his blood, Guillen transitioned to coaching roles with the Montreal Expos/Florida Marlins before being named White Sox manager in 2004.  In 2005, Guillen forever became an icon in Chicago sports history as he led the White Sox to their first World Series championship in 88 years, justly earning him AL “Manager of the Year” honors.  Following the 2011 season, Guillen left the White Sox to become the manager of the Miami Marlins, a stint that lasted only one season.  Although not ruling out once again managing a big league franchise in his future, Guillen spent the past few years in the sports broadcast world and most recently joined NBC Sports Chicago as an analyst on its new “Chicago-focused” baseball show entitled Baseball Night in Chicago, featuring host Leila Rahimi and co-analyst Doug Glanville.

In tonight’s Part I edition of “Inside Look,” Guillen discusses everything from his playing days, his favorite memories of the 2005 championship season, his feelings on Sammy Sosa, his love of Chicago, and much more.  Part II (debuting May 14 at 7:00 PM) will feature discussion on his favorite memories of the Cubs-Sox “Crosstown Series,” stories about his northside managerial counterpart Lou Piniella, along with his comments on becoming an MLB manager once again.

In addition, viewers are urged to check out NBCSportsChicago.com for additional interview footage of the Guillen interview, along with an archive of past Inside Look guests over the years.  Note the following quotes from Parts I & II of Inside Look with Ozzie Guillen presented by Cadillac premiering TONIGHT at 8:00 PM with Part II debuting Monday, May 14 at 7:00 PM:

Guillen on his love of the White Sox:

“They gave me the best opportunity of my life. I want to be part of them more and I will be. I want to feel more comfortable going there. I do not want to be a distraction.”

Guillen on admiration of Sammy Sosa:

"I love Sammy. I think Sammy did some great things for this town. People know who the Cubs were because Sammy put them back on the map. All of a sudden, everyone turned their back on him. Sammy brings so many good things to baseball and we kicked his butt out of baseball with no reason. I don’t get it.”

Guillen on his love of Chicago:

“I love Chicago. I feel part of Chicago. Oprah was part of Chicago, she doesn’t live here. Michael was part of Chicago, he doesn’t live here. All of these big names don’t live here. I am stupid enough to deal with the weather (laughing). I feel like I am going to die here. I just want to live here for the rest of my life.”

Guillen on being a manager for the Cubs-Sox “Crosstown” games:

“I always told the players…this will be the closest you get to the World Series with the media and the fans. It was awesome.”

Guillen on the current White Sox rebuild:

“They took the right steps back and thank you to the fans to let this happen, especially with the opposition in town and the Cubs winning (the World Series).”
