Preps Basketball Power Rankings: No. 25 Libertyville

Share

School: Libertyville

2016-17 record: 12-16, 7-7 North Suburban

Postseason results: Lost to Glenbrook North in Class 4A regional quarterfinals.

Players to watch: Senior wing Drew Peterson is one of the area's best players as he's a potent scorer and All-Area threat. With multiple 30-point games last season, Peterson can carry Libertyville by himself on certain nights. Senior Chase Eyre gives the Wildcats another versatile player with good size at 6-foot-4.

Why they're in the power rankings: Peterson is talented enough to lead this group to a lot of wins and the supporting cast around him is intriguing. With new head coach Brian Zyrkowski hoping to play more uptempo, the Wildcats could have a potentially dangerous offense if Peterson gets more help this season. Finding stability at point guard could be the key to Libertyville's season.

Did you know? The 6-foot-7 Peterson is the best uncommitted senior prospect in the Chicagoland area. While mid-major programs have been in hot pursuit, Peterson has the type of size and floor-spacing ability that could eventually make high-majors interested.
