Jared Allen wont be looking over his shoulderor down at his kneesany more than usual when he sees the Bears next Sunday.
It was the Vikings defensive end who leveled guard Lance Louis and ended Louis season with a knee injury that has had the Bears organization scrambling on the offensive line ever since. Throwing a block after a teammates interception of Jay Cutler, Allen hit Louis high but in such a way that Louis suffered a season-ending knee injury.
But that play was on the fifth snap of the second half and if the Bears were going to exact any sort of retaliatory retribution, it likely would have happened at some point in the games remaining 28 minutes. So Allen is not expecting the Bears to go after him with intent to injure.

If they had a chance to retaliate during the game and didnt, like I said, there is nothing to retaliate, Allen said on Wednesday. It wasnt malicious. It wasnt done out of ill will. We had interception. A guy was running towards our guy to make a tackle and I threw a block.
Allen sought out offensive coordinator Mike Tice and left tackle JMarcus Webb after the game to inquire whether Louis was all right. When the answer was no, it was not what Allen wanted to hear.
My condolences are to him, Allen said. The intent is never to hurt anybody. You never want to hurt anybody. Unfortunately, thats part of our game and it happened. But you dont go into a game wandering what if. I play this game pure. My integrity of this game to me, I dont worry about.
