Welington Castillo providing an early power boost to White Sox offense

The White Sox didn't make many notable additions in the offseason, but Welington Castillo was one of them.

The catcher signed a two-year, $15 million contract in December and has smoothly stepped into the starting catcher role. Castillo hit a go-ahead two-run double with two outs in the eighth inning in Kansas City on Saturday and was at it again Monday in Toronto.

Castillo took starting pitcher Jaime Garcia yard for the first run of the game and later blasted a home run off reliever Seung Hwan Oh to give the White Sox a second lead. Unfortunately for the White Sox, Castillo's homers were the only runs for the White Sox and the bullpen couldn't hold the lead after Reynaldo Lopez produced six solid innings in his first start of the season. The Blue Jays won the series opener 4-2.

Castillo only has three hits through three games, but all three hits have produced RBIs that gave the White Sox the lead.

The White Sox only got 10 home runs from catchers last season and Castillo already has two. Strangely enough, Geovany Soto also had a two-home run game early last year. In the second game of 2017 Soto had two homers and hit another in the fourth game of the year. Soto missed most of the season due to injury and didn't hit another home run the rest of the year. Sox fans will be hoping Castillo is able to have steadier production the rest of the year.
