Former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner is looking to remain active as he closes out 2011.

According to sources close to Varner, he's agreed to face Alonzo Martinez at Titan FC 20 on Sept. 23. Varner has also agreed to fight Nate Jolly at XFC 14 on Oct. 21.

Varner (17-5-1) is 1-0 since getting released from WEC late last year. The 26-year-old, who recently moved to New Jersey to train with the AMA Fight Club, defeated Tyler Combs at XFO 39 via submission.

Varner said recently that he considered retirement after getting released from WEC but has since decided against it.

"When I got cut I felt like my girlfriend dumped me. I've been with Zuffa for five years. I dropped out of college. I've been chasing this dream, all in. ... I never said no to a fight. Whenever they asked me to fight, I fought," he said.

"There's still some tread on these tires," Varner added. "There's still some fights to be fought and some battles to be won. ... I want to get back in the UFC and fight in the UFC."

Martinez (30-14-1) has won his last three fights in a row. The eight-year MMA veteran has faced the likes of Clay Guida, Yves Edwards and Toby Imada but has lost to all of them.

Jolly (10-3) is 2-2 in his last four fights. Varner will be the biggest name he's ever faced in his career.

Titan FC 20 takes place in Kansas City, KS, while XFC 14 will be held in Orlando, FL.
