Some of the sports stories The Associated Press is covering Saturday. A full Sports Digest will be sent at about 3 p.m. EDT:

- LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Rory McIlroy goes to the weekend of the PGA Championship with a one-stroke lead.

- The federal judge who declared the NCAA was guilty of violating antitrust law also capped the amount of money athletes can receive for use of their names, images and likenesses. While it opens the door for athletes to receive some compensation, it isn't the amount that Ed O'Bannon and others sought.

- IRVINE, Calif. - Michael Phelps tries to win for the first time in his third event at the U.S. national championships, when he takes on Olympic champion Matt Grevers and Ryan Lochte in the 100-meter backstroke

- WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. - A year ago, Tony Stewart missed the Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen because of a broken leg suffered in a sprint car crash. He's back and desperate for a win on the road course he has dominated for more than a decade.

-It's long been known that the NFL sought to achieve parity, making it so each team believes it has a chance to win on any given Sunday - and to reach any season's Super Bowl. With that might finally have come the death of dynasties: It's been a decade since anyone won back-to-back championships, the longest such drought in nearly a half-century of Super Bowls. With a young roster and key parts returning, might the Seattle Seahawks be equipped to end that streak?

- NEW YORK - Broken bones. Torn ligaments. Subpar performances. They all combined to sideline some of the NFL's biggest stars a year ago, a lost season for several players who'd rather make headlines on the field instead of the trainers' room. Rob Gronkowski, Percy Harvin, Julio Jones, Robert Griffin III and Sam Bradford know all about that. So do guys such as Doug Martin, Jeremy Maclin, Reggie Wayne, Brian Cushing and Geno Atkins. They're hoping this year will be different as they eye comebacks.

-DETROIT - Cleveland quarterback Johnny Manziel makes his preseason debut when the Browns take on Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.

- NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers visit the Tennessee Titans and Jake Locker for their preseason opener Saturday night

- GLENDALE, Ariz. - Bill O'Brien makes his debut as Houston's coach when the Texans and Arizona Cardinals meet in the teams' preseason opener

- PHOENIX - The top two teams in the WNBA meet in what could be a Western Conference finals preview when Phoenix meets a Minnesota Lynx team that ended the Mercury's 16-game winning streak last month
