ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Fashion Plate led all the way in winning the $300,000 Las Virgenes Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by a half-length at Santa Anita on Saturday.

Ridden by Gary Stevens, Fashion Plate ran one mile in 1:37.22 and paid $11.40, $4.40 and $3.80 at 9-2 odds in the Grade 1 race.

Streaming returned $2.80 and $2.40 as the even-money favorite for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. Arethusa was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $4.60 to show.

"When they came to her, she really dug in and tried real hard," winning trainer Simon Callaghan said. "She's a special filly. It means a lot to win this race. Gary put up a great ride. She went pretty quick and I think that was a testament to her courage and ability that she was able to do that and sustain the run."

Fashion Plate earned $180,000, increasing her career winnings to $219,250 on two wins in four starts.

In the $200,000 Arcadia Stakes, Winning Prize pounced on pacesetter Regally Ready in deep stretch to win by 1 1/2 lengths.
