UFC middleweight Chris Leben was arrested on Wednesday night on a probation violation for a previous driving under the influence charge in Clackamas County, Oregon, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's office.
According to a source, Leben had hoped to complete classes to satisfy the previous DUI charges after moving to Hawaii but was unable to have his probation transferred. Leben then turned himself in on the violation in hopes of satisfying his case and procuring his travel visa for a scheduled match next month with Michael Bisping at UFC 85.
The 27-year-old is riding a two-fight win streak after victories over Terry Martin and Alessio Sakara.
Leben first came to fame in the first season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2005. The fighter is known for his heavy hands and colorful personality. He has fought 11 times in the octagon and holds a career record of 8-3 in the UFC (18-4 overall). In his most high-profile fight, he lost via first-round knockout to current champ Anderson Silva in June 2006.
He signed a new deal with the UFC in February.
The fighter was being held without bail due to his probation violation.
