Jeff Shamrock, nephew of legendary MMA figure Ken Shamrock, has signed a multi-fight contract with Strikeforce, the organization announced.
The 18-year-old Jeff Shamrock trains with his uncle at Lion's Den, and will fight as a welterweight.
"Jeff possesses that incredible Shamrock strength that his family is known for," Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said in a press release. "I expect great things from Jeff and look forward to his professional debut.”
Shamrock has one amateur fight under his belt, defeating Kyle Davey last August. He is expected to debut sometime this fall. His uncle, Ken, is also the commentator for NBC's "Strikeforce on NBC" television show, episodes of which can be viewed on NBCSports.com.
Friday night, Strikeforce hosts its next card, featuring a lightweight title match between Gilbert Melendez and Josh Thomson.
