Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with several felony traffic charges after colliding with several cars and then leading police on a chase through Costa Mesa, California.

Jackson was arrested at gunpoint after shredding his left front tire on his custom Ford F250 pickup during a pursuit up Newport Boulevard. The vehicle features images of Jackson on the side along with the logo of Toyo Tires, another sponsor that reportedly gifted the truck to him.

According to a police report obtained by NBCSports.com, Jackson was observed by a police officer weaving into and out of traffic while speaking on his cell phone at around 1 pm Tuesday. In addition, his left tire was already flat.

The officer began to pursue Jackson to initiate a traffic stop, but Jackson ignored the officer and continued to weave around tarffic, driving over the center part of the road and eventually onto a sidewalk, causing pedestrians to "flee in terror," according to the report.

According to the report, he collided with at least one vehicle as the chase continued, and proceeded to drive through several red lights. The rubber from his tire disentegrated, leaving him driving on a rim, and he finally pulled over at 18th Street and Newport Boulevard in Costa Mesa, about 3.3 miles from the chase's origin point.

He was arrested without incident and booked for felony evading, reckless driving, and hit and run, and held on $25,000 bail.

Police also noted in the report that Jackson was involved in two separate collisons prior to the chase. Lt. Paul Dondero of the Costa Mesa Police Department said that there were no injuries in the various collisions.

TMZ.com reported that Jackson was hospitalized after being declared "medically unfit" to be booked, but the official police report obtained by NBCSports.com says that Jackson was not hospitalized.

Early Wednesday morning, police said Jackson was released after posting bond. Yahoo! Sports reported that UFC President Dana White flew to California from the organization's headquarters in Las Vegas to bail out Jackson.

The organization had no official comment, directing inquiries to the Costa Mesa Police.

Jackson, 30, who lives in Irvine, was upset by Forrest Griffin at UFC 86 on July 5.

Ironically, just hours before Jackson was arrested, Throwdown, an MMA apparel manufacturer and one of Jackson's sponsors, posted on their website that Jackson had just received the truck after having the audio system re-done.

"Rampage was happy to get his truck back," the website wrote.
