Down 28-14 late in the third quarter, Harrell brought his team back with a 21-point rally, capped by a four-yard TD pass to Detron Lewis with 6:14 to play. It enabled Tech to complete the comeback in a game in which it was held to less than 400 yards total offense for the first time this season.

For the game, Harrell was 41-of-50 for 309 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. He was able to do this without the services of his main target, Michael Crabtree, who went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter and did not return.

The two TD passes gave Harrell 130 for his career, one shy of tying Hawaii’s Colt Brennan for the most touchdown passes in FBS history.

The victory was Tech’s 11th of the season, just the third 11-win season in school history and the first since 1973.

Harrell overcame two injured fingers on his left hand suffered in the second quarter. He was scheduled for surgery Sunday but he was not expected to miss any time.
