Will Lillard have a chip on his shoulder after All-Star weekend?
A quick look back...
***Friday's game will be available on Blazers Pass***
Tied with LeBron James in scoring and that's when Damian Lillard was taken out of the NBA All-Star game and was not even given the chance to go for some #LillardTime magic.
Lillard was a reserve for Team Stephen, and ended up scoring 21 points in 21 minutes, which was a personal best in an All-Star appearance.
Lillard's 21 points was the most by any reserve and he tied starter DeMar DeRozan for most points on Team Steph. But here’s the thing, Team Steph needed a three-pointer to tie the game, but yet Lillard was not out on the court and Team Steph lost to Team LeBron, 148-145.
So with that All-Star chip on his shoulder and the fact that the Blazers have won three of their last four games including the final game before the break vs. the Warriors, 123-117, the Jazz might want to watch out for that “Dame-sized chip”—(that phrase is courtesy of CJ McCollum). In the Blazers win over the Warriors, Lillard dropped 44 points.
Friday’s contest will be the third of four meetings between the Blazers and Jazz this season. Utah won each of the first two games, including February 11th contest at Moda Center. In the 115-96 loss, Damian Lillard scored 39 points.
Lillard has scored 30+ points in five of his last seven games vs. Utah. He's averaging 32.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists during the stretch.
The Blazers aren’t reporting any injures for Friday’s game at Utah.
As for the Jazz— Ricky Rubio (left hip soreness) is listed as questionable. Thabo Sefolosha (right knee surgery) and Danté Exum (left shoulder surgery) is out.
The Blazers have won 10 of their last 15 games, including three of four.
Portland enters the All-Star break in seventh place in the Western Conference, but are just 2 1/2 games behind the Timberwolves for fourth place and then just two games ahead of the Jazz for 10th place.
The Jazz have been a team on the rise in the West. Utah has won 19 times this season against teams with winning records. And during their 11-game win streak right now, the Jazz have recorded the highest net rating in the league with 14.6.
