Chase Utley bobblehead giveaway at least gets his soul patch right

The Reading Fightins will be giving away a Chase Utley bobblehead on their opening night on April 3rd to the first 3,000 adults. If adults love anything, it's Chase Utley.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Now, getting a bobblehead to look like the actual person it's made to represent is often challenging. The Utley one doesn't exactly look like the Phillies second baseman, but at least it does get the soul patch right.

It looks like someone else famous, but I can't put my finger on it. Who do you think?

Here's the full press release from the Fightins:

There are only 64 days until Opening Night on Thursday, April 3 at 7:05 p.m. and there are plenty of reasons to get excited about it, highlighted by a Chase Utley Fightins Bobblehead giveaway to the first 3,000 adults 15 and over thanks to CJ’s Tire and Automotive Services and a VIP On-Field Warning Track Cocktail Party. 25 fans in attendance on Opening Night will also win a game-worn jersey thanks to VF Outlets while one lucky fan will win a trip to Spring Training 2015 thanks to White Star Tours.

Tickets for the Opening Night game go on-sale at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 30th via Fightins.com, by calling the Fightin Phils Ticket Office at 610-370-BALL, or by stopping by the box office in person. VIP On-Field Warning Track Cocktail Party tickets, Red Reserved Seats and General Admission tickets will be available for purchase while Blue Box Seats and Yellow Box Seats are available by purchasing a Fightin Phils Season Tickets or Mini-Plans.

“It’s hard to top last season’s Opening Night, but the 2014 season hits the ground running,” said Fightin Phils General Manager Scott Hunsicker. “Our Chase Utley Fightins bobblehead giveaway is an incredible item that only can be found in Baseballtown. We’re bringing back both our jersey giveaway and VIP Warning Track Party again this year due to resounding demand from our fans.”

He starts at second base for the Philadelphia Phillies, was a member of the 2008 World Series championship team, and on April 3, he’ll become a bobblehead when the club gives a Chase Utley Fightins Bobblehead to the first 3,000 adults thanks to CJ’s Tire and Automotive Services. Utley’s stint in Reading will be forever commemorated with the first bobblehead giveaway to feature a Fightin Phils jersey.

In addition to the bobblehead giveaway, 25 fans will win a navy blue Fightins game-worn jersey thanks to VF Outlets that the team will wear to start the 2014 season.   All fans that will be in attendance for the 48th season opener will be eligible to win the authentic autographed jerseys free of charge.

Opening Night will also see the return of the VIP On-Field Warning Track Cocktail Party that will allow partygoers to watching batting practice from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. and mingle with the 2014 Fightin Phils while enjoying an all-you-can-eat buffet and open bar. VIP Tickets for the evening include both access to the on-field party and Fairgrounds Square Mall ’67 Club Picnic Area and cost $35 per ticket.

One lucky fan will also win trip to Clearwater, Florida for Spring Training in 2015 thanks to White Star Tours.

A full list of promotions will be announced leading up to the first day of individual game ticket sales on February 13th.

Best of NHL: Maple Leafs hand Kings 1st regulation loss of season

TORONTO -- Frederik Andersen made 36 saves, and the Toronto Maple Leafs handed the Los Angeles Kings their first regulation loss of the season with a 3-2 victory on Monday night.

Matt Martin, Tyler Bozak and Patrick Marleau scored for the Maple Leafs (7-2-0). Mitch Marner added two assists.

Toronto has won at least seven of its first nine games for the first time since the 1993-94 season and just the seventh time overall in franchise history.

Adrian Kempe and Trevor Lewis scored for Los Angeles (6-1-1), which had won four in a row. Jonathan Quick stopped 31 shots.

Toronto defenseman Roman Polak made his season debut after signing a $1.1 million, one-year deal on Sunday. He had one assist and played 12-plus minutes (see full recap).

Couture, Jones lead Sharks past struggling Rangers
NEW YORK -- Logan Couture had a goal and an assist, Martin Jones stopped 33 shots and the San Jose Sharks beat the struggling New York Rangers 4-1 on Monday night.

Tim Heed, Joonas Donskoi and Melker Karlsson also scored to help the Sharks win for the third time in four games. Jones got his fourth straight win after losing his first two starts.

Mika Zibanejad scored and Henrik Lundqvist finished with 20 saves for the Rangers, who fell to 2-6-2 on the season. New York finished 0 for 6 on the power play and is 3 for 25 over the last six games.

With the Sharks leading 3-0 after two periods, Couture took the puck away from Lundqvist behind the goal and sent it to Karlsson, who put it in for his second of the season at 2:51 of the third. Couture got his 200th career assist on the play.

San Jose turned the puck over in its defensive zone and Zibanejad snapped a shot into the top right corner to spoil Jones' shutout bid at 4:23 of the final period (see full recap).
