Delaware holds on to beat UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Ryan Allen sank four 3-pointers in the second half and a late free throw by Ryan Daly made the difference as Delaware edged UNC Wilmington 58-56 in a Colonial Athletic Association opener on Saturday night.

Delaware (8-6) led 31-26 at intermission but the Seahawks (3-10) rallied in the second half to go ahead 43-36 with 10:42 to play. The Blue Hens struggled to regain the lead with the help Allen's four 3-pointers and did so for good on Daly's 3-point play which gave Delaware a 57-56 edge with 50 seconds remaining. The Seahawks' Jaylen Fornes missed a 3-point attempt with two seconds left.

Delaware made just nine field goals in the second half, five of them from distance.

Allen finished with 14 points, Daly had 13 and Eric Carter had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Jordan Talley led the Seahawks with 15 points. Devontae Cacok added seven points and 19 rebounds.

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Eli Pemberton scored 21 points, Desure Buie added 20 and Hofstra pulled away late in the first half and cruised to a 90-63 victory over Delaware on Thursday night.

Pemberton was 7 of 12 from the floor and Buie made four 3-pointers and was 8-of-17 shooting from the field. Justin Wright-Foreman had 15 points and Jalen Ray chipped in 10 for Hofstra (12-7, 5-2 Colonial Athletic Association), which has won five of its last six games.

Ryan Allen scored 16 points, Anthony Mosley added 15 and Ryan Daly 13 for Delaware (11-9, 4-3).

The Pride used a 25-11 run that spanned the halves for a 55-39 lead with 14:42 to play and cruised from there. Rokas Gustys scored six of his eight points, Pemberton added another six points and Wright-Foreman had five during the stretch.

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Ryan Daly scored 19 points and the winning basket with 14 seconds to play and Delaware rallied from seven points down to beat James Madison 61-60 on Saturday and win its third straight.

Matt Lewis' layup sparked an 11-4 run for a 60-53 Dukes lead with 3:06 left to play. Daly hit two free throws and Delaware closed to 60-59 with 48 seconds left on layups by Ryan Allen and Anthony Mosely. Daly scored a contested jumper off a defensive rebound and Stuckey Mosely missed a jumper with 2 seconds to play.

The game featured 16 lead changes and 11 ties, with neither team leading by more than seven points.

Allen scored 14 points, Anthony Mosely 11 and Eric Carter 9 with 13 rebounds for Delaware (11-8, 4-2 Colonial Athletic League), which shot 36.8 percent from the floor.

Delaware led 27-26 on Allen's jumper, but Stuckey Mosely's two free throws put James Madison up 28-27 at halftime.

Stuckey Mosely scored 17 points with a career-high seven rebounds and Matt Lewis had 14 points for James Madison (4-15, 0-6), which has lost seven straight.
